Jesus Makes a Lame Man Walk Again Childrens Lesson Activity Acts 3

Prayer is how nosotros tin communicate with God. Merely in that location are times when nosotros inquire for something small when God wants to anoint united states of america with something greater. Use this object lesson to teach children from Acts 3 about Peter, John, and the lame human.

{Set up: Without the students watching, place the iii cups upside down on a tabular array. Under one place the dollar. Nether another one place the $20. You will play a version of "Let's Make a Bargain."}

Acts 3 lesson

{Requite the students the quarter.}

You lot, as a group, have one quarter.

{Ask:}

  • How much is that worth? (25 cents)
  • Would you like to take something better? Something that is worth more? (Yeah)

I have 3 cups in front of me. Yous don't know what is under them. If you want to, I am going to let yous choose which loving cup you would similar, Simply you accept to requite me the quarter. You lose it when you give it to me. Y'all do not Take to cull a cup. You CAN keep the quarter.

{If the grouping decides to choose a cup, take away the quarter, and here are the options for what to say. Allow the students to keep "trading" until all of the cups have been turned over.}

Empty cup {If chosen start or after the $1 or $20 bills} You exchanged your (quarter, $i bill, or $twenty bill) and received NOTHING! Oh no! It was a risk y'all took and unfortunately information technology did not turn out well for you.

$one cup {If chosen kickoff, or after the empty cup} This is meliorate! Instead of (a quarter or nothing), now you accept $ane neb! That is better. But is this the BEST that can happen?
{If chosen after the $20 bill} Oh no! You already had the BEST thing! And now you lost it. Well, $ane is better than nothing or a just a quarter.

$20 cup {If chosen showtime or second.} WOW! $20! That's meliorate than a (quarter, $1, or nothing). I wonder if this is the best you can do? What else could be under these cups? Do you lot want to go on the $20 nib, or cull a new cup?
{If chosen as the terminal cup} WOW!! You at present have the BEST! A $1 bill is better, but a $20 neb is best.

Bible Lesson for Acts iii:

After the day of Pentecost, Peter and John went to the temple to pray effectually three:00 in the afternoon. At the same time, a lame man was beingness carried by some people and placed at his normal spot to beg for money, or alms. He was a poor man, lame from birth. The lame man saw Peter and John and asked for alms.

{Ask:}

  • What does God want to exercise for us? Give us something better? Or give u.s.a. His best? (Give us His best)

The homo called out for alms and Peter replied that he had no silver or gold. How disappointing for the lame human! He needed money so he could eat, and to have a place to alive. Imagine how disappointed him might have felt. He didn't fifty-fifty had a quarter to exchange. He had zippo!

{Hold upwardly the cup that had zippo under it.}

Peter continued, "Silver and gold I practice not take, but what I do have I will requite to you. In the name of Jesus Christ, rising up and WALK!" And Peter grabbed the hand of the lame homo and pulled him to his feet. The bible says that strength came immediately to his feet!

{Concur up the one dollar bill.}

The lame man wanted something amend than he had. He wanted money for his immediate needs. Peter could have given him a few coins, maybe enough for dinner that night, but and then the next solar day the human being would be begging once again.

{Concur up the $twenty bill.}

What Peter gave, what GOD gave, was something that was Best! After existence healed, he lame man could walk, fend for himself, get a job, and do everything whatever other person could do. The man was so overjoyed that he went walking and leaping and praising God all the way into the temple with Peter and John.

Everyone around knew who the lame human being was and praised God with him. He had sabbatum in that begging place for years and now he was healed!

Peter noticed how all of the people were in awe and he started to preach but every bit he did on the day of Pentecost. He taught about the Old Attestation, Jesus, Jesus dying and being raised from the dead.

Life Application for Acts three:

In the name of Jesus, Peter healed the lame homo.

{Agree up the $ane neb.}

The lame homo was seeking something improve than what he had.

{Hold upwards the $20 pecker.}

But God wanted to give the lame human being what was best for him: healing.

There are times when we pray to God request Him for something that would improve our lives or the lives of people we love. Sometimes we are seek a specific answer. Commonly its an answer nosotros actually want. It could be anything. A good class on a test. A better friendship with someone. An awesome present at Christmas time. Maybe for parents to terminate fighting. Possibly, you desire to be able to read amend, or work math bug better. Perhaps someone is bothering you lot at school. Whatever it might be that we ask from God is fine. It's expert. Information technology is proficient to enquire. But what if information technology isn't God's all-time for usa? Should we pray differently?

What if instead of request God to practice something specific, nosotros give Him the upshot and asked Him to handle it His style? For case, mayhap you enquire God to help you be a better friend to someone. That is a great request. Ask it. However, what if you lot said: "Lord, delight help me to be a ameliorate friend to (name). But Lord, I want your all-time. I want Your will to be done. If in that location is annihilation else I can do, please permit me know."

Acts 3

This ways we have to trust God with the understanding that He loves united states of america and desires to do what is best for us. This besides means that nosotros might have to look for an respond.

The lame man was healed immediately, but that does not mean God will answer our prayers immediately. He might, but we tin can trust Him that He WILL reply.

Because of what God did, the human went walking and leaping and praising God. Do y'all do that when God blesses yous? Do y'all thank God for the expert things in your life? Non but material items, but what well-nigh your family unit? school? church? the nation you alive in? your health? the fact that yous Tin walk? What about thanking God for your weaknesses? That sounds crazy, doesn't it? But scripture over and over tells us that through the weakness of people, God is strong.

{Enquire:}

  • When you chose a unlike cup, yous risked losing something. What did the lame man have to lose? (Allow for answers, but probably cypher.)

When you lot swapped cups, you took a risk. It was risky to trade the quarter and $1 bill. It was non so risky if you had nothing.

Serving God seems risky. But in reality, everything we accept belongs to God. Nosotros don't know what He is going to do when we come to Him with our prayers, but we Tin can trust Him completely. When we give up to God, nosotros are telling Him that He is in totally charge.

God is the only 1 who is completely faithful. Sometimes because of our own sin choices, we come to God with nothing and all we tin do is offering ourselves….and that is what He wants. Everything!

What tin can nosotros learn from Peter, John, and the lame human? Sometimes we hold out our prayers and ask from something little when God has something much bigger and better in heed for united states. We must be willing to give everything to the I who is admittedly trustworthy.
